Hello!!!
I promise this e mail will not be as long as the last one...haha I hope you all enjoyed the essay.
We got into Sorrento today and went to Pompeii, pretty cool in both places, but first Rome!!!
Rome is amazing!!! We got in at night and took a cab and the cabbie showed us all the sights, everything is light up at night and beautiful. It is AMAZING!!! We were all going oooohhh ahhhhh oohhhh ahhhh at every turn when we saw something else. The Vatican, Coleseum, Victor Emanuel Monument, the Pantheon all CRAZILY HUGE AND BEAUTIFUL AND AMAZING! We all were in absolute awe of this city. The cabbie couldnt have said it better, he goes Roma is ah beautiful city at night, no? We were like this is our favorite city and it so pretty, you could tell the cab driver was proud of his city, and he should be its great.
Rome is still awesome by day, but nothing as it is at night. The most beautiful city in Europe is what I dub it. And I have been to a lot now!!!
We did all the biggies, the Vatican, saw where Pope John Paul is buried, saw the Sistine Chapels, the Pantheon, Spanish Steps, the Coleseum (awesome!!), the Roman Forum, tons of stuff, an open bus tour of the city. I dont know the city seems to go on forever, one massive white structure after another.
Oh, and to continue our European McDonalds tour, we went to one of the biggest McDonalds on the PLANET!! This place was HUGE!!! It was right near the Spanish steps, most def. the biggest McDonalds I have ever encountered. Our slogan for the trip really is Ronald McDonald is our only friend, haha we love that place.....
Speaking of other big things, we waited in the longest line we have ever seen for the Vatican and then the Vatican museum (sistine chapels are located in the museum). The lines went on foorrrreevvveerrr. But we made it in less time then we anticipated.
The past days have really blurred together so much more so then the rest of the trip. We are getting anxious to return home. We are going to Capri Island tomorrow which Kristina and I are very excited for, blue clear water, sandy beaches yay! Jennifer is going to look at some of the islands historical monuments and buildings and then going to Sorrento and other cities on the Amalfi coast (where we are currently located) while Kristina and I continue our goal of getting as tan as humanly possible. I am very brown, Jennifer says I have hit the limit on tanability, haha, needless to say I am more tan then I have ever been!!!
There are dogs EVERYWHERE here, it is very sad, they are mainly strays. They were all over Pompeii (ancient ruins city for those of you who do not know, Mt. Vusivia exploded in like 300 ad or something and kept the city as it was at the time of the explosion, so it is preserved) but these dogs are all over. We fed some cookies, they eat food out of the garbage, super sad ) :
The poverty in this part of Southern Italy is tremendously bad. A little boy was on the trains today playing an accordian (spelling?) for money, it was the most sad thing I have seen this entire trip. It makes us aware of how lucky we are as we were sitting on a train traveling on a multi week European vacation. Thank you parents for not forcing us to beg for money to eat.
We are now Americas biggest fan group. Really. I have been very unpatriotic at times, hating our country, but even though America has an immense amount of problems, I would not trade living there for anything. I always said I was moving to Europe someday, now uh uh. We all realize how fortunate we are to live in the country which we were born into. Kristina and I have been making up songs about America when we are bored HAHA and Jennifer is always like ok guys they already hate us here, keep it down. Haha it is really funny we were singing born in the USA, god bless america, the star spangled banner and America Fuck Yeah from Team America all day today. Haha it was great!
As you all may have heard, there was the flight bomb whatever scare a few days ago which will affect us coming home. We are not sure how bad, we have heard varying reports from nothing allowed leaving Europe except clear bags for travel documents to just no liquids or gels. Well, I am a chapstick FREAK and am very addicted and the restrictions do not allow chapstick so we have all been brainstorming how I can get some on the plane so I dont go insane after 20 hours with no chapstick, I have decided I am putting vaseline under a bunch of bandaids all over my body!!! LOL it may sound very weird but if you know me well at all you know how addicted I am to Chapstick it will be interesting to see what I look like with bandaids all over my body with vaseline oozing out. Kristina says she will take a picture if she can, and if it looks bad enough say she does not know me. Jennifer says good thing shes not flying with us because I will look like a freak. HAHA good times it will be.
Well I should end this before I continue blabbering. We are TRYING to get pics up. If not, ALL of them will be up within 2 weeks. We get home in NINE days, NINE, single digits, we are amazed that it is finally here! We have all been talking of the food we want when we get home. Danny, Kristina wants a warm Cinnabon waiting for her. Mom, Jennifer and I want potato and macaroni salad ( : And we all want Red Robin. I especially want Diet Pepsi. I know we are in Europe, but we are so ready to be home, but this trip was an amazing, eye opening awesome experience no matter how much we seemed to bitch! We just cant wait to come home! Look for at least one more email before we board planes home. Only one more night in Italia. Then Greece, Athens and Santorini, the most looked forward to part of the trip for Kristina and I. See you all soon!
Ciao Bellas (as is said to us constantly). Prego!!
The girls in Europe
